The device is very loud. I use it on the lowest setting. I have $3500 hearing aids that I wear regularly, but I don't like to wear them for sports. I got this for my sports workouts. No whistling. Device is very large - 4x the size of my expensive hearing aids. Definitely not a 'real' hearing aid, but for the price it is good enough. If I crash on my mountain bike and destroy it, I am only out $10, not $1700.
