I ordered the version labelled 'light Bamboo.' The chasen (matcha whisk) that I received is okay, but not great. The shape is good and there were no weird odors or coatings. The issue is that the tines are really rough. Typically, some of the final steps in making a chasen include trimming and sanding the tines to ensure a smooth surface. That seems to have been skipped here. Little splinters abound. I haven't had too many fall into my matcha yet, but that risk is present. It can also be more abrasive to chawans, disrupts foaming, and tends to trap fine matcha particles which is a hygiene concern. If this was just sanded, I think it would be fine. With this price point, I don't feel like I should be the one having to do that.

Very nice chasen! I prefer Shin shape chasen for producing a finer microfoam and it was hard to find this whisk shape on Amazon. I am happy it is available on AliExpress. Shipping was very fast as well.

Arrived very fast but fully mold all over .. can’t be used and need to throw away.
