⚠️ WHY YOU NEED A TIMING LIGHT
Improper engine timing causes serious damage:
❗ Piston failure
❗ Bent valve rods
❗ Broken crankshaft
**Too early:** detonation, reduced efficiency, increased noise and vibration.
**Too late:** poor performance, higher fuel consumption, louder exhaust.
Correct timing = better performance, lower fuel consumption, longer engine life.
🔧 CORE FUNCTIONS — DIGITAL TIMING DISPLAY
Precision Engine Timing at Your Fingertips
The KZYEE KT60 Digital Inductive Timing Light is designed for precision ignition timing adjustment. The high-visibility LED display shows real-time RPM and ignition advance angle, allowing you to accurately set and verify engine timing without expensive dealership equipment.
The strobe flash freezes the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley, making it easy to read and adjust ignition timing. Perfect for mechanics, DIYers, and car enthusiasts working on classic cars, motorcycles, boats, and agricultural machinery.
Digital LED Display Panel
The KT60 features a bright LED digital screen with 4 control buttons:
● Switch between 4-stroke and 2-stroke engine modes
● Display real-time RPM (engine speed)
● Display ignition advance angle (degrees BTDC)
● Increase or decrease the ignition angle reading with dedicated buttons
The high-visibility screen ensures clear readings even in bright sunlight or dark workshop environments.
How Timing Light Works
The timing light fires a strobe flash synchronized with the No.1 cylinder ignition pulse. When aimed at the crankshaft pulley timing marks, the strobe "freezes" the marks, allowing you to read the exact ignition advance angle in degrees before top dead center (BTDC).
Understanding Timing Terminology:
● B.T.D.C (Before Top Dead Center) — Spark occurs before the piston reaches the top of the cylinder, ensuring full power from combustion
● A.T.D.C (After Top Dead Center) — Spark occurs after the piston starts moving down
● T.D.C (Top Dead Center) — Piston is at its highest point in the cylinder
🎈Sliding Sensor Clip
Clamp it onto the No.1 spark plug wire, ensuring the arrow points toward the spark plug.
❗Note: If the inductive pick-up is not used properly, it can result in inaccurate readings, light flashes intermittently, or even the timing lights not working at all.

📖 HOW TO USE KT60
👉 STEP 1 — PREPARATION
Check that your vehicle is equipped with a distributor and has timing marks on the crankshaft pulley. Ensure the engine is off. Block the drive wheels for safety. Put the transmission in Park (automatic) or Neutral (manual).
👉 STEP 2 — CONNECT THE INDUCTIVE CLIP
Clamp the inductive pickup around the No.1 spark plug wire. Make sure the arrow on the clip is pointing toward the spark plug. Do not allow the inductive pickup to touch the exhaust manifold or surrounding parts — these areas get extremely hot and will damage the pickup.
👉 STEP 3 — CONNECT POWER CLAMPS
Connect the RED clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal. Connect the BLACK clamp to a secure engine ground such as the alternator bracket or engine block. For safety, do NOT use the negative (-) battery terminal or fuel system components as a ground connection point.
👉 STEP 4 — SELECT ENGINE TYPE
Press the mode button to select 4-Stroke for cars or 2-Stroke for motorcycles and 2-stroke engines.
👉 STEP 5 — START THE ENGINE
Start the engine and let it idle at normal operating speed.
👉 STEP 6 — AIM AND TRIGGER
Aim the timing light at the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley. Press and hold the trigger to activate the strobe. The strobe will freeze the timing marks, allowing you to read the ignition advance angle on the digital display.
👉 STEP 7 — READ AND ADJUST
Read the timing value on the digital display. Compare with the manufacturer specification. If adjustment is needed, loosen the distributor hold-down bolt and rotate the distributor slightly until the correct reading is achieved. Tighten the distributor bolt and recheck.
👉 STEP 8 — FINISH
Turn off the engine. Disconnect the power clamps and inductive clip in reverse order. Store the timing light in a dry place.
NOTE: Keep engine speed below 3500 RPM during testing. The strobe may stop flashing above 3500 RPM as a protection feature — this is normal.
⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTES — READ BEFORE USE
RPM Limit During Testing
The timing light is mainly used for testing petrol cars. 4000 RPM is already high speed for a petrol engine. During testing, when triggering the flash, engine speed should be maintained below 3500 RPM.
If engine speed exceeds 3500 RPM, the light may stop flashing. This is NOT a malfunction — it is a built-in protection feature. When testing motorcycles, it is very common to see the light stop flashing once engine speed exceeds 3500 RPM due to over-limit protection.
Motorcycle Testing Warning
When testing motorcycles:
● 2-stroke mode should be selected
● Engine speed should be strictly controlled below 3500 RPM
● Since motorcycle batteries are small and voltage is unstable, combined with poor signal matching, the timing light may stop flashing as a default setting at high RPM (>3500 RPM)
● If you continue to pull the trigger for a long time when the light stops flashing due to over-limit (>3500 RPM), it is likely to burn out the timing light
Inductive Pickup Usage
The inductive pickup is essential for accurate timing readings:
● Clamp it around the No.1 spark plug wire
● Ensure the arrow points toward the spark plug
● Keep it away from the exhaust manifold and nearby hot parts
● If not used properly: inaccurate readings, intermittent flashing, or no operation at all
Unstable RPM Readings
If the display can read engine speed but the reading is unstable:
● Check if the inductive clip is clamped securely in place
● Possible interference from external ignition system
● Spark plug ignition may not be stable
● Check if the spark plug is aging — if so, replace the spark plug first
No Display / No Flash
If there is no display on the screen and the light does not flash:
● Connect the clamps correctly: red to Positive (+), black to Negative (-)
● Ensure clamps are connected to clean positions on the battery terminals
Display Works But Cannot Read RPM
If there is display but unable to read engine speed:
● Only use the timing light to test spark ignition engine vehicles
● The inductive clip should clamp on the No.1 spark plug wire with arrow pointing toward the spark plug
● Check if the inductive clip is clamped correctly in place

❓ FAQ — FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: How does the digital timing light work?
A: The principle is similar for both analog and digital timing lights. The timing light is specially designed to detect the ignition timing scale on the engine flywheel or pulley. It fires a strobe synchronized with the No.1 cylinder ignition, freezing the timing marks for accurate reading.
Q: What happens if ignition timing is set TOO EARLY or TOO LATE?
A: PREMATURE ignition causes detonation, blocked piston movement, reduced efficiency, increased thermal and mechanical load, noise and vibration. LATE ignition leads to poor engine performance, higher fuel consumption, lower efficiency, and louder exhaust noise. Eventually this affects engine performance and lifespan.
Q: Does it work on 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines?
A: Yes. KT60 supports both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines. Simply press the mode button to switch between modes. For motorcycle testing, always select 2-stroke mode.
Q: What voltage systems does it support?
A: KT60 is compatible with 9V to 16V ignition systems. It connects directly to a 12V vehicle battery — no internal battery or charging required.
Q: Does my vehicle need a distributor?
A: Yes. Your vehicle must be equipped with a distributor and have timing marks on the crankshaft pulley. Vehicles with distributorless ignition (COP / coil-on-plug) may not be compatible.
Q: Can I use it on motorcycles?
A: Yes. KT60 works on motorcycles with spark ignition engines. When testing motorcycles: select 2-stroke mode, and strictly keep engine speed below 3500 RPM. Motorcycle batteries are small and voltage may be unstable at high RPM.
Q: Why does the light stop flashing above 3500 RPM?
A: This is a built-in protection feature, NOT a malfunction. The timing light is designed for testing at idle and low RPM. 4000 RPM is already high speed for a petrol engine. Keep engine speed below 3500 RPM during testing. Continuing to pull the trigger when the light stops flashing may damage the unit.
Q: Why is my RPM reading unstable?
A: Check if the inductive clip is clamped securely. Possible causes include external ignition system interference, unstable spark plug ignition, or aging spark plugs. If the spark plug is aging, replace it first and retest.
Q: How do I connect the power clamps?
A: Connect the RED clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal. Connect the BLACK clamp to a secure engine ground such as the alternator bracket or engine block. For safety, do NOT use the negative (-) battery terminal or fuel system components as a ground point.
Q: How do I use the inductive pickup?
A: Clamp the inductive pickup around the No.1 spark plug wire. Make sure the arrow on the clip points toward the spark plug. Do not allow the pickup to touch the exhaust manifold or surrounding hot parts — this will damage the pickup.
