Built for Attack – Torpedo Blade
The Torpedo blade is born for attack. Featuring a 5-ply wood + 2 outer carbon construction, it is topped with a premium Hinoki surface veneer, delivering a unique catapult effect and exceptional feedback. The natural softness and elasticity of Hinoki create a sensation of the ball being launched from the blade, offering explosive speed without sacrificing dwell time. The outer carbon layers provide robust support, ensuring abundant power for mid-table loop drives. Flicks are quick and agile, while blocks remain stable and precise. Its lightweight design allows for effortless swing speed, making it the ideal weapon for loop drive attackers.
Rubber Pairing Suggestions:
Forehand: Pair with a high-tension tacky rubber (e.g., Hurricane 8 40°) or a high-tension tensor rubber (e.g., Donic Bluefire M1) to fully leverage the Hinoki’s catapult effect and the blade’s offensive power.
Backhand: Pair with a high-tension tensor rubber (e.g., Butterfly Tenergy 05, Tibhar MX-P) to enhance backhand punch shots and rally consistency.
Customer Reviews
1.I used to play with the Butterfly Boll ALC. It’s fast, but the feel was a bit hard, lacking deep ball grip. After switching to the Torpedo, the Hinoki surface feels amazing! Forehand loops have that “dwell and launch” catapult sensation, with a low and long arc and a heavy second bounce. On the backhand with T05, the punch speed is comparable to the Boll ALC, but the feel is softer with higher consistency. Perfect for players who love aggressive attack but still want great feedback.
2.I compared this with Donic’s True Carbon blades, which felt a bit hollow with noticeable power drop-off from mid-distance. The Torpedo is completely different. With outer carbon and Hinoki surface, close-table punches are crisp, mid-table loop drives are powerful, and you can still produce high-quality shots from mid-distance. Flicks are effortless thanks to the lightweight design, and backhand flicks are comfortable too. Getting this performance at this price is unbeatable value.
3.I play penhold. I used the DHS Hurricane Hao before, but pushes felt a bit mushy with less crisp blocking. The Torpedo’s Hinoki surface is firm yet elastic, providing solid pushes with excellent directionality. On the forehand with Hurricane 3, the loop has a distinct catapult feel with strong spin. Compared to the Joola Rosskopf, this blade has a more pronounced catapult effect, better suited for players who love finishing shots in one stroke. The CS handle is comfortable and not too thick.
4.This is my first time using a blade with a Hinoki surface, and the experience is incredible! The catapult effect of the Torpedo lives up to the name. With minimal effort, blocks produce fast returns, and when you go full power, it’s truly explosive. Compared to the Tibhar Fortino Pro, this blade is lighter, allowing for faster swing speed and smoother backhand transitions. The only downside is that defense requires a slight adjustment in angle due to the high elasticity, but once you get used to it, it becomes an offensive weapon.
5.I’ve played with many outer carbon blades. The Butterfly Viscaria is the benchmark, but it’s pricey. The Torpedo gives me hope for affordable outer carbon blades. With the same 5-ply wood + 2 outer carbon construction, the Hinoki surface offers a completely different experience – softer feel, stronger catapult effect, and higher consistency. While the single-shot quality is slightly below the Viscaria, the continuity and forgiveness are better. For players on a budget who want to experience high-end outer carbon performance, the Torpedo is definitely worth considering.
