The ADL5801 integrates a high-linearity dual-balanced active mixer core and a local oscillator (LO) buffer amplifier to provide a wide dynamic range frequency conversion from 10 MHz to 6 GHz. A proprietary linearization architecture enables the mixer to provide enhanced IP3 performance at high input levels. Bias adjustment features input linearity, single sideband (SSB) noise figure, and DC current optimization via a single control pin. Optional input power detector for adaptive bias control. The high input linearity of the device allows it to meet the demanding requirements of mobile phone applications where in-band blocking signals can result in degraded dynamic performance. Adaptive bias enables this device to achieve high IP3 performance in the presence of strong blocking signals. When the blocking signal is eliminated, the ADL5801 automatically reduces bias to achieve low power consumption, and the balanced active mixer configuration provides excellent LO-RF and LO-intermediate frequency leakage, typically better than − 40 dBm. The intermediate frequency output provides a voltage conversion gain of 7.8 dB (typ) at a load of 200 Ω. The wide frequency range of the open collector intermediate frequency output makes the ADL5801 suitable for use as an up-converter in a variety of transmission applications. The module features a shielded housing and anti-reverse protection diode.
