FAQ:

Q1: Is this stone truly natural? How is it different from synthetic stones?

A: Yes, 100% natural. This whetstone is quarried from Xingzi County, Jiangxi Province, China, and is a genuine metamorphic rock (natural slate) no chemical binders, no sintering, no artificial abrasives.

Q2: Is it really 12000 grit? How can you measure the grit of a natural stone?

A: This is an excellent and fair question. The short answer is yes .it performs at a 12000 grit finishing level.Natural stones do not have a factory-assigned grit number.

Q3: What kind of steel can this stone sharpen?

A: This 12000 grit stone works on virtually all common blade steels, including:

High-carbon steel (Japanese knives, traditional razors)

Stainless steel (German/French chef knives)

VG-10, AUS-8, AUS-10 (common Japanese stainless)

Damascus / pattern-welded steel

Tool steel (chisels, plane blades)

Q4: Does the stone color or pattern vary?

A: Yes. Because this is a 100% natural stone, each piece has unique mineral veins, subtle color variations (dark grey to charcoal), and natural surface texture. No two stones are identical ?this is the hallmark of a genuine natural product, not a defect.

Q5: What grit should I use before moving to this 12000 stone?

A: For optimal results, follow this progression:

400 grit (reprofile / repair chips)

1000 grit (sharpen / establish bevel)

3000 grit (refine edge)

12000 grit (final polish / mirror finish)
